Shown above is Stewart Purkis with the City Of Lethbridge electrical department and President Murray.   With the new whizzy electrical meters they create a network that talk to each other and use each other to relay the data to the main servers.

This provincial electricity grid sometimes hits peak demand and they have to lower power demand to avoid outages.  Now, with the whizzy new meters, they can reduce the voltage a bit (still within the CSA equipment / appliance ratings) in order to reduce the power demand.  That is pretty amazing.
